We love our home on the banks of the Missouri River, with a front row seat to all the moods of America’s Big Muddy, the heart of Discovery Expedition’s continent-spanning route. But we prefer to love the flows and eddies from a distance, not as a participant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still, despite our wishes, our friends at the National Weather Service<\/a> are serving up a warning. At a stage of 29 feet, the river’s reaching out with damp fingers. The expression “whatever floats your boat” is not referring to our happy place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fortunately, we have friends in (literally) high places and we’re enacting plans to tow the boats to safer harbors. The boats are happiest in the water, but they need an experienced hand at the helm. As for the Boat House and Museum…we’re built for river life and can stand the rain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Museum is open to visitors, and we are still planning to host an event welcoming our new exhibit of the Maps of Lewis and Clark<\/a> on March 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
