The Lewis and Clark Boat House and Museum is proud to join with the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail\u00a0and more than 30 locations in 13 states across the country.\u00a0Kids, families, and the young at heart can pick up a free Lewis and Clark Trail Junior Ranger activity booklet and earn a Junior Ranger badge\u00a0at\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/lecl\/learn\/kidsyouth\/where-to-become-a-junior-ranger.htm\" target=\"_blank\">participating locations<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<br><br>\u201cThis\u00a0program tells an inclusive history of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, beginning with\u00a0tribal homelands and\u00a0highlighting the diverse backgrounds of\u00a0the expedition members,\u201d\u00a0said\u00a0Lewis and Clark\u00a0National Historic\u00a0Trail Superintendent\u00a0Mark\u00a0Weekley. \u201cWe&#8217;ve\u00a0developed\u00a0innovative, multimedia elements to make the program more engaging and accessible for all.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<br><br><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/lecl\/jr-read-along.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Read-along videos<\/a>\u00a0are available online so participants can hear the activities narrated and audio-described.\u00a0This feature is particularly helpful\u00a0for participants or\u00a0guardians\u00a0with low or no vision.\u00a0\u00a0<br><br>Another online feature allows kids to hear names of plants and animals in a few\u00a0of\u00a0the many\u00a0Indigenous languages\u00a0spoken along the Lewis and Clark Trail. Families can access the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/articles\/000\/native-names-of-plants-and-animals-along-the-lewis-and-clark-trail.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Native Names of the Trail webpage<\/a>\u00a0to hear Arikara,\u00a0Nimipuut\u00edmt\u00a0(Nez Perce),\u00a0Chinuk\u00a0Wawa, Shoshoni, Lakota Sioux, and\u00a0Myaamiaataweenki (Miami-Illinois).\u00a0<br><br>Later\u00a0this summer, program participants will also be able to engage with tactile maps of the Lewis and Clark Trail.\u00a0These\u00a03D\u00a0maps\u00a0convey the\u00a0scope and topography of the\u00a04,900 mile expedition\u00a0route\u00a0and helps\u00a0users with low or no vision access\u00a0map information.\u00a0<br><br>Kids can also become a Junior Ranger from home by visiting the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/lecl\/learn\/kidsyouth\/beajuniorranger.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Lewis and Clark Trail Junior Ranger Online<\/a>\u00a0page\u00a0and completing interactive\u00a0activities.\u00a0\u00a0<br><br>Find more information on the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/lecl\/learn\/kidsyouth\/where-to-become-a-junior-ranger.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Lewis and Clark Trail Junior Ranger Program<\/a>\u00a0and find more kids activities by visiting the Lewis and Clark Trail\u2019s\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/lecl\/learn\/kidsyouth\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Kids &amp; Youth page<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ABOUT THE LEWIS AND CLARK NATIONAL HISTORIC TRAIL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 4,900 mile long Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail follows the route of the Lewis and Clark Expedition across North America and passes through the territories of more than sixty tribes.
